John's Story
Life
After HS graduation went to Rutgers for 2 years then dropped out. Went to work and learned about the "real" world Mom & Dad had been telling me about!
Went back to Rutgers at night to finish college and finally graduated in 1988.
Started working for Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick in 1990 and had a terrific 20+ year career there, most recently in the position of Director of Employee Relations. During my career I travelled to various J&J sites around the U.S. while working on human resources issues and union contract negotiations.
Since J&J offered, went back to night school and received my M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson in 1995.
Married a girl from my Avenel neighborhood (Robin Howell CHS '79) in 1983 and we've been together since. We have a son who is a sophomore at Emerson College in Boston studying film production.

llness pulmonary fibrosis in December, 2005. Fortunately for me, I received a double-lung transplant on Memorial Day 2008 and have returned to somewhat of a normal life although I'm permanently disabled. I thank God and my donor every day for the second chance I've been given.
In my spare time I like spending time with family, working on my house projects, driving/restoring my '72 Chevy Nova and doing volunteer work as the President & CEO of the Avenel-Colonia First Aid Squad, volunteering at the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program soup kitchen, being a member of the Garden State Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group and doing all I can to help those facing the same journey I did and to educate others on the importance of organ donation.
Haven't left NJ except for occasional travel but would love to relocate to someplace with nice weather year round. San Diego would work nicely for me...Ah, maybe someday.
