John's Story

Life After graduation from Loyalton, I went to CSU Sacramento. I went there for a couple of years, and found that a college degree wasn't in my stars. While going to college, I had a part time job working at Sears in their auto shop. I would install tires, change oil, and some other repair work. When I wan't busy, a woman named Becky showed me how to do brakes and alignments. After Sears, I worked other odd jobs such as pizza delivery driver, forklift driver, etc. Then I went to work for Bridgestone/Firestone, again doing tires and oil changes. One day, one of the mechanics quit, and they needed someone to fill in. Next thing you know, I'm doing more complicated auto re...Expand for more
pair, but not really making much in the way of money. Four years later , I found myself in San Diego, because Sacramento was a dump, and I pissed away my 20's there. In San Diego, I went to work for Winston Tire. That turned out to be a bad decision, because they were in the process of going out of business. Then there was Jim's Truck and Auto Repair. It didn't pay much, but we went racing every weekend all over the Southwest. I got to the point where I was tired of being broke, so I went to work for Express Tire, which has a commission program that pays pretty well. Now, I'm a Master Technician, and I train other repair technicians who work for Express Tire. That's it.
