John's Story

I hope that my classmates remember me as someone who loved to make people laugh. I lived in Hauppauge until I got married in 1984, lived in Bethpage for about a year until we bought the house in which we currently live in Ronkonkoma, 30' south of Smithtown. I will be a Met fan until I die, my kids got me hooked on American Idol, Heroes and CSI. My biggest surprise is that I have been with the US Postal Service for the past 20 years. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen for my wife and add on a second floor. My dream home would be a log home on a mountain by a lake. My kids have shown me that I should be praying every day. I would love to ask Mr. Lamantia why he said and did some of the things he did. If I won $100 million I'd give most of it away to those in need and then spend the rest on the little bit of debt I carry. I would like to retire in about ten years and then be free to do volunteer work at my church full time. I am most comfortable in t-shirt and shorts year round. Weirdest job I ever had was working in A&S in the display department for the holidays. We pulled an all-nighter on Thanksgiving Eve and I fell asleep under a Christmas tree I was stringing lights on. t which I enjoy. Huge trophy (too big for home) on display at church when we beat the previously unbeaten champion for the division championship. Do-overs? Not if it would change anything about my life right now. I think everyone would be surprised that I have been doing a lot of acting over the past 20 years - mostly seasonal musicals at Christmas and Easter. I sit on the corporate board of my church. I have been happily married for the past 24 years. Last but not least, I cannot tell you who I am without telling you this: I have been in love with Jesus Christ for the last 28 years. He is my reason for living. Apart from Him I can do nothing and I can do all things through Him. He has saved me from a life of pain and despair to one of hope and pure joy. I realized that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and there is no way to the Father but through Him. I know that being a good person is not enough - why did Jesus have to do die if all I had to do was be a good person? His word says "All have sinned and fall short of God's glory", and that "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ". That's who I am and I am not ashamed to say so. May the peace of God which surpasses all understanding keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
