John's Story
I am from Sale Creek, Tennessee. John's schools include Sale Creek High School. I entered Tennessee Technological University (Electrical Engineering) in 1962, graduating in 1966
After Tenn Tech, I worked for NASA in Huntsville, AL, followed by TVA in Chattanooga, before joining USAID in 1985. Since 1985, I went to Pakistan in 1965 to head up the power sector work for USAID. Since that assignment, I have worked in Washington, DC; Vilnius, Lithuania; Sofia, Bulgaria; Cairo, Egypt; and Almaty, Kazakhstan. ia - Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and of course Kazakhstan. in 2010, I had an opportunity to return to Pakistan and have been there since. I retired from USAID in 2013 and became an expat American working with a local NGO on development programs. With USAID, my assignments included serving as an energy specialist, and a program officer. As program officer, I was responsible for overseeing the design and implementation process for all projects within a given USAID mission, including budget planning, strategy development and monitoring projects.
