John's Story
After graduation from South, I went to Indiana State and got a BS Degree in Electronics Technology in 87. Moved to Chelmsford Mass - 30 min drive to Boston - Got a job with a big security outfit doing sales, installation, training and repairing of security equipment. I loved it there. What a history rich area. Bunker hill, the Heritage Trail is cool, Salem - where the witch trials were held - anyway a very memorable experience. It is funny how the accent grows on you the longer you are there. When I moved back to the Haute, everyone said I picked up the accent.
I worked installing security systems for various Presidential nominees - back when Doo-cock-us ran for president. Remember him. What a dork. Anyway I met him and others. An unforgettable experience. I also had the opportunity to design a security system for the New England Patriots - another forever memorable experience. Met the players and cheerleaders. I fell in love with all of them (the chearleaders that is). They were all so nice. They gave me some tickets for that year.
Also I went to some Redsox games and Celtics games. It's funny, that reminds me of another story of when a friend of mine and I got front row seats behind the Celtics bench. It happened to be a time when Bird was injured and did not come to the game. But McHale was there -although he was injured and on the bench the entire game. I asked him after the game how many bolts he counted on the floor of Boston Garden. He laughed and ...Expand for more
said he never counted them all. (if you remeber the episode in tv show Cheers when the gang got McHale obsessed with counting the bolts on the floor and it hurt his game play). Anyway that is my story in a long short way. Whew. That made me hungry for a Boston Hot Dawg and Beeer.
After spending about 3 years or so there I moved back home due to the cost of living and personal reasons. When I got back to the Haute I had a couple jobs before getting a job at Columbia House. I did worked in various positions there for over 13 years. Then they were bought out by BMG and I was let go. I went back to school - IVY Tech and graduated this past May 2008, with an AS Degree in Radiologic Technology (Rad Tech for short). The same thing Donna Turner has been doing for quite some time at AP&S Clinic. Right now I work at Union Hospital in the IS/Communication Dept in various capacities. I am currently in the process of looking for a job.
While I was at Columbia House I was set up on a blind date and ended up getting married in 1996 -over 12 years ago. Her name is Sherry. she was a 1985 graduate from South. Small world huh. I have two boys - Zachary 11 and Austin -5.
In my spare time - whenever that might be - I go fishing, spend time with the family, helped coach my sons baseball and basketball team. I even refereed and umpired grade school and JR high school teams.
