Greetings
I was stationed in Tan An with C Company 9th Medical Bn from September 68 to July 69. We were then shipped to Dong Tam since we were part of Nixon's withdrawal. I came home August 19 1969 I was a radio operator and later Commo Sergeant for the Medical station adjacent to the air strip.
I finished my two year draft term in Ft Dix New Jersey where I trained troops for the same company I trained with in the US.
I separated from the service in March 1970.
I had some difficulty returning into the civilian workforce. Jobs were difficult in eastern Mass at the time. I finally got a job as an underwriter with Liberty Mutual in Boston.
I later became a business systems analyst and then moved to management when I got my MBA from Boston College .I was promoted in 1990 to Vice President in ou...Expand for more
r Life insurance company. I did a major reengineering project that in part transformed our internal structure. I had a nice career but took an early retirement in 2000.
I'm now a real estate agent and have two other business interests.
I'm married since 1972 have three grown up daughters; two granddaughters. I got the MBA on the GI bill. My wife and I have done some traveling most recently to Italy. We've been to a Ireland, Spain (twice) . Some one sent me a bunch of pictures of Tan An and I will see if I can post these. Except for the cell tower it looks pretty much the same to me. Let's face it I was pretty lucky with this military assignment.. radio operators didn't fare too well in the field.
If anyone remembers me or was in the 9th Med send me an email. I don't recognize any names off hand.
