John's Story
Life
After high school I basically did what everyone thought I would do, went to Penn State. I started off majoring in CompSci, switched to MIS and ended up with a B.S. in Accounting.
After college I moved to Pittsburgh and worked as a CPA for five years before going to Grad school (at Pitt of all places!).
While in Pittsburgh, I married in 1991, separated in the summer of 1994, and divorced by October 1995.
At the Katz Graduate School of Business at Pitt, I earned a dual MBA/MS in Management of Information Systems in 20 months, and even managed to squeeze a full-time internship with SmithKline Beecham Consumer Healthcare in the middle of it.
After graduate school, I moved to Fairfax, VA and joined American Management Systems as an IS consultant. I spent about 6 years there, leaving for greener pastures after a corporate downsizing in October 2001. After AMS and 5 months of unemployment, I landed a 4-month consulting gig with AOL that ended in July 2002.
After another month and a half on the unemployment ranks, I landed my current position as a Functional Analyst with Callidus Software, Inc. The company is based in San Jose, but I get to work out of my home and fly to client site whenever I'm on a project. Pretty sweet, but it tends to involve a lot of travel.
On the personal side... In June 2001, I bought a new house in Bristow, VA (just west of Manassas), and I'm enjoying the fruits of my labor. I'm on the available list after my last long-term relationship ended in November 2005.
My free time is spent enjoying my 2006 Corvette, Sailing, Shooting Pool whenever I get the chance, Being a Penn State fan (bet you couldn't see that one coming?!?!), and spending time with family and friends whenever possible.
