John's Story
Life
My name is John Petrie and I am currently the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Harland Clarke, San Antonio. I reside in San Antonio, Texas. I am married and have three daughters. I love woodworking, watching basketball, and playing golf.
I retired from the United States Marine Corps in October of 1996 after serving for twenty years. I served as an Intelligence Professional attaining the rank of Master Sergeant, with expertise in technical intelligence as well as intelligence collections and analysis. I have had tours of duty in the United States, Japan, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, and have served as an Intelligence Professional at all levels of Command. I have also had tours of duty as a Senior Drill Instructor, Scout and Security Guard. I have had two combat tours: Beirut, Lebanon and Panama. I also had the opportunity to be a member on the China and the Rest of the World (CROW) Space Panel, Weapons and Space Systems Intelligence Committee, a national level intelligence forum.

I am a Certified Lucent Technical Instructor, Microsoft Certified Professional, APBM Certified Business Manager, an ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional, a Certified HIPAA Security Professional, and Certified in Homeland Security, Level-III. I have an Associate of Science Degree in General Studies, and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Liberal Arts, and I have and MBA with a concentration in information Systems.
