John now Lisa's Story
John had a tough life for a long time: bankruptcy, divorce, being a single parent, injustice, etc., then
finally realized what needed to happen and did it. Now life is far from perfect, but in a lot of ways it is better. There will always be challenges. How we meet those challenges is what truly matters. Honesty, thoughtfulness, empathy, and a willingness to listen as well as talk - those are the qualities I admire and seek to find in myself.
Who we are is more than simply our history. It is also our aspirations, our beliefs and our attitudes toward others. When I think back on those years at Yorktown, I remember a lot of people, a place and a time that is long past, moments that, taken tog...Expand for more
ether, create a sense of bittersweet amazement - that we could all have once been so young, and so real.
I know that most of you won't recognize me from these photos. My own brother didn't, so I get it. In many ways, too, John Phillips is gone... but still around in a strange and surreal way. My name is Lisa Yarrow now, and I'm satisfied with that, and with who I am. Still working on life, but then, aren't we all? At least on some level?
