Al is from Elkhart, Indiana. He is married. His schools include Elkhart Memorial High School (1973-present). He later attended Indiana State University (Secondary Education, Classical Studies). He attended seminary at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminar. He is currently the senior pastor at White River Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Indiana.
