John's Story
Went to the old Hughes Jr High on Winnetka. Half of our class went to Canoga and half went to Taft, but THREE of us went to Chatsworth! I was a bit of a geek/jerk at Hughes, but wound up as Class Pres at Chatsworth. Have been in touch with many of our Hughes classmates but would like to find more. Considering a Hughes Jr High reunion...any takers?
Spent awhile in Vietnam and the National guard. Worked in retail management for 10 years, restaurant mgt for another 5, then most of the rest in the residential lending industry. many non-profits, currently Chair of the Santa Barbara County Advisory Board on Alcohol and Drug Problems. One of my dreams during school years was to buy up old gas stations and turn them into public parks; got to do that in Carpinteria via the Citizens for the Carpinteria Bluffs. Was the first Chair and raised $5.5M to purchase 50+acres of beachfront for a preserve and playing fields.(Property had been owned by Chevron, held for development.) My avocation is restoring and selling antique furniture etc. Married, have one son and one granddaughter. Retiring soon, but gotta get this idiot out of office first. Don't forget to vote!
