John S.'s Story
Life
Well, after ten years in the restaurant biz doing everything from serving to bartending to cooking to managing, I switched careers and am currently teaching English at Spellman. I'm currently in my eighth year at the school where I'm teaching sophomores and juniors.
In my spare time, I work on my house in Brewster, help my wife in the raising of our two sons, Eddie and Michael, and write and produce original audio dramas.
School
I was never a fan of this school, to be honest. I was so worried as a kid about what I felt were injustices at the school, I missed out on what was gre...Expand for more
at about it. I've only discovered this in returning to the school as a teacher and now devote my time to making the students realize how lucky they are to be going there. Sometimes, I succeed.
Workplace
This year I'm teaching 10th and 11th grade English. I've got my hands full as I get both classes ready for the Regents. I am also the moderator of the school's MSG Varsity video club, a club dedicated to providing content for the MSG Varsity network. I am also the coach of the school's MSG Varsity The Challenge team, an academic team. We start our second season of play in November.
