John's Story
Life:
I've been meaning to get around to this for a few years now. Missed the last couple of reunions, always had something important that came up. Enjoyed seeing some of the photos from the 35th, 40th and 50th reunions on the website.
In nutshell... Graduated NMHS with the rest of you in 1971. Attended Rutgers Ag School (later Cook College) and graduated with Highest Honors in 1975. Went to Columbia University in NYC to study Organic Chemistry. (What was I thinking?) Had to end my graduate studies (1977) after completing my Masters when I was run down by a drunk driver and sustained a few orthopedic injuries. Decided that Orthopedics looked like more fun than Chemistry and enrolled in Medical School at UMDNJ and finished up in 1981. Pursued a residency in Orthopedics also at UMDNJ and finished in 1986. Off to Delaware to pursue a job offer and after some relocating, ended up in the little old town of Lewes, De where I founded Orthopedic Associates of Southern Delaware, now the 2nd largest orthopedic group in Delaware.

Other points of interest, married since 1988 with 3 daughters. While in College, I ran the 400M hurdles and was 4 time...Expand for more
State College Champ and 7 time NJ AAU Champ. Finished up with a bronze metal as part of the 4x400M relay team at the 1975 National AAU Championship and a 3rd place 1975 world ranking as part of the 4x60M shuttle hurdle relay team.
Can't run anymore secondary to numerous knee injuries and surgeries. Can ride a bike and compete in age group time trial races.
Not really in touch with anyone from New Milford any more other than Jackie Cohen. Was sad to see the number of fellow classmates who have passed on at so early an age.
Always interested in hearing from someone from the class.
So time keeps flying and now as 2014 has closed and we enter 2015 (45 years since graduation in 2016?), I'm looking at slowing down in my Orthopedic practice and working part time. Got certified in Acupuncture recently, something I have been interested in for decades. Time to travel and see things I've put off for years. My wife and I are looking forward to seeing more of the world.
Sorry I’ll miss the 50th Reunion, just a bad time for a large gathering. Dealing with some medical issues that have compromised my immune system, I’m vaccinated, but need to be careful. Hope to see some pictures.
