Life
I attended the University of Illinois for three semesters after graduation from Libertyville High School and then moved to Colorado to ski. Eventually I took enough time off from my skiing to receive an undergraduate degree in history from Western State College of Colorado in 1970. I followed that by attending the University of California at Irvine for my Masters and PhD. I received the latter in 1976, accepted a job teaching US and Latin American history at Gallaudet University. ve Director of Information Technology Services and various other units, I finally retired in 2007. In 2008 I was awarded Professor Emeritus Status.
I have one grown-up daughter, Juliana, who lives in California with her husband and my two granddaughters, Elise and Claire. My wife, Deborah, and I live most of the year in South Pasadena, CA, after 10 years in Miami Beach. We also own an apartment on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. I've traveled throughout Western Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. I still love outdoor sports, these days mostly cycling, hiking, and ocean swimming.
