John's Story
Life
I have lived in Mount Vernon OH for the past 20 years.
I love my adopted home town I teach music, drama and science at St. Vincent's school here and for fun and a little extra cash have a small jazz ensemble.
I enjoy cycling motorcycling, sailing, skiing. We have a small farm here and used to keep a dozen Arabian horses
The horses have been sold and the last ones, the two we brought here from NY have died and are buried in the back of the pasture. I have two daughters Liz 21 has studied music theater at Ohio Northern university. Gracie is 16 in the 11th grade She is an accomplished singer and a mime artist. Both Girls attended the IMTA (international model and talent association) convention in NYC ,summer of 2008, out of thousands of actors from 19 countries Liz was selected as Young Actress of the Year and has offers coming in from LA. Gracie came in sixth in her age group and will also have opportunities in LA just a little slower because of her age. Workplace
My degree was from the Cleveland Institute of Music in Opera performance. i continued my studies at the Santa Fe Opera and at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC I lived in NY for about 10 years and from there sang throughout the country. I was quite successful but singing for a living is not enough for a family. I started a company Pearl Spring Enterprises Inc. we produced our own CD's and toured programs of American song from Michigan to New England. Had a lot of fun made some money... when the kids reached school age we really had to quit touring and by then we had been living in ohio for several years. I went back to school and got a Masters in education and began my teaching career.
I have been at St. Vincent's for 13 years and I really love it. My wife and I don't sing together any more. but we are enjoying our retirement from performing for a living.
