John's Story
Life
I work in the Bay area for a construction specified products company. Prior to that I worked at Otis Elevator, earned an MBA at Purdue University, and flew SH-60B Seahawk helicopters for the Navy. I attended St. Mary's College for two years and finished at UC Davis in 1982. I am still married to the love of my life, Teri (Leppi), have three great (grown) kids, Jennifer, Robert, and Lauren, and live in Marin. We have a sailboat in Sausalito, and we're always looking for someone wanting to cruise San Francisco Bay.
My "thrill-seeking" itch was scratched piloting Navy helicopters about the Pacific and the Gulf. So we look to more relaxing activities for our leisure. Besides sailing, we read, watch reality shows like "Amazing Race" and "So You Think You Can Dance" (guilty pleasures), spend time with our grown kids, go to movies, attend concerts, bump around Napa and Sonoma tasting wine, and dine out in Marin and San Francisco. I also like handgun target shooting, and Teri and I love to camp and hike, especially on the North Coast.
Though I graduated from UC Davis (Go Aggies!), I'll always be a St. Mary's College Gael. So I spend a lot of time at the Mo...Expand for more
raga campus, with my close no-load Gael friends. We have season basketball seats, and fire-up with a little Irish Whiskey before each game. The libation, and our ages, free us to shout well-seasoned obscenities at our opponents, especially the kids from Gonzaga and Santa Clara. We have a lot of fun, and are probably too old to worry about getting beat up, so it is all good. We also lucked out in the High School friend department, and typically get together with our old gang several times a year. If "old friends are gold friends", Atwater High School was like Fort Knox
Politically, we've been around long enough to develop an appreciation for hard work, and we expect to keep most of what we earn (is that still remotely possible?). We also think more freedom is better than less, so our economic conservatism is tempered with a healthy dollop of social liberalism. There is nothing more fun than arguing politics (sarcasm intended), so old friends are encouraged to drop us a line, join us for sailing, or any other of the aforementioned activities, and at least one "We'll solve all the World's Problems" bull session. Knives and guns will be checked at the door.
