Life
I am wondering why I am wasting my time on this. I think that by fooling with nostalgic things, we entertain the illusion that our lives could have been different, that we could have left some little unkindness undone or been nice to someone that we ignored. Not so much that a decision could have made a million dollars or a Nobel prize, just that there might be something more memorable, something that we could look back on and say "tha...Expand for more
t was important, that mattered." The arrogance of adolescence seems to make us feel that every little thing is of earth shattering necessity, but later, well, I can't even remember much about it. I see the faces in the yearbooks and wonder what happened to the dreams and hopes. Maybe it is best to let the past stay in those old books so that the sad loss of hope and ambition is a secret known only to the people who run second hand bookshops.
