John's Story
Well another time(long ago), at West High, I became famous. After the East High game, I saw this guy take a swing at me. I went outside and hit him! He said he wasn't the guy that tried to hit me so I asked Eddie Nagsawa to help me get away. They offered a 300$ reward for any one who would tattle on me and Mr.Parker got up in the assembly and said I was"despicable", which at the time I thought was a "good trait", so I was going to turn myself in to get the reward! (because the kids dad was rich). Dick Nemelka told me not to do it because despicable was what they called Larry Richins and I know no "good words" were ever used on him! Soon a snitch turned me in, but his dad made him give the money back " 'cuzz it was silly," he said. ty though, so I payed to have his braces unbent (15$). Many years later when I became a teacher at Eastmont Middle School, I went to buy some books for my students and it turned out the kid I hit owned the school books publishing house (I forgot his name but a lot of you guys know him). We laughed and joked about "the old days"-you know- until we were crying from laughing. I didn't feel guilty about hitting him anymore. We were such good friends. I guess I should have hit a few more guys, especially Mr.Parker 'cuz he never liked me-even when I played football for the "U". Of course maybe he only bet on BYU. I'll write another true story later. My wife just told me it was my bedtime! See 'Ya John White
When I was eight years old, I went to work selling newspapers on the streets of Salt Lake City. I rode the bus to and from-alone! Hard work!
