My National Honor Society essay submittal as I would have it:
Out of respect of the community challenges with youth and adult participation in keeping busy, I felt responsibility in leading, honestly, as an example of youth, adult and military participation in community activities, studies and work to keep fairness and tolerance to people, as myself, with sports limiting injuries and work/study priorities performing to the best of my ability, as per physicians orders and recognized by teachers and coaches. I still set an example that a youth can make themselves grow in a concerted effort to examine how they fit into current society. This was also shown in how I mentored classmates via question and answering adherance in classes and library independent study in 3 years at Gelinas Junior High School followed by 3 years at Ward Melville High School. Service to the community was the key.
Noted: I received the National Honor Society Award in the mail without applying dated 5/31/74. I am very proud and gratefull. I will continue the NHS's tradition every day.
I wrote hundreds of two-page essays in public school and college taking about 1/2 an hour to write each essay and got nothing less than an "A+" grade on every one. I am quick!

He graduated from Ward Melville High School as a member of the National Honor Society, attended Stony Brook University and New Paltz College for two years then attended Island Drafting and Technical Institute working in the military defense industry per contract, on and off, for 15 years as a drafter and designer with computer-aided software applications to produce hundreds of technical drawings. He has worked in the hospital business for over 2 years and food service business for 2 years also doing data entry for a human services company part time and is now employed in a self-run multi-service business for the past 12 years. He continues to give to charities such as Ronald Macdonalds House and the Walk for Life cause for prostate and breast cancer research. His respect for veterans has been shown thru attendance of military functions preceded by being a Coast Guard Academy candidate in high school during the Vietnam War. He has lived on Long Island, New York all his life except for one year living in New Paltz, New York and one year living in Lake Worth, Florida visiting sites up and down the east coast of the United States, Canada and Bermuda as a tourist and camper for many years. He is an avid healthy living advocate for himself and others, as a talented basketball player for 11 years and once devoted jogger for 18 years, attending health fairs across Long Island on a regular basis. He has lived on his own away from his nuclear family for 30 years with no dependents as well as favorably dating dozens of the opposite sex for over 42 years and now resides in a garden apartment in Bay Shore, Long Island, New York and is single and not yet first married with no children.".
