John Wittman:  

hysics Laboratory working with submarines, then moving into the financial side of the business. I earned my masters degree in business from Johns Hopkins along the way. In 1969, I married Phoebe Wilson (MSU '69). Nine years later we had a daughter, Laurel, and in 1982, our son Rob was born. Both are out of the house now - - we enjoy the empty nest living situation. We've travelled more: Iceland and UK for the past two years. Las Vegas the year before. I've changed careers in the past 15 years, now working for Design and Production Incorporated, one of the nations largest museum and exhibit design/build firms. I've been Production Manager when the company produced the exhibits at the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame as well as many other attractions. The wonder of this line of work is that there is very little repeated activity. Everything is new or at least built upon our collective experiences. Currently, I serve as manager of purchasing, facilities, computer systems, safety, and a number of other hats. I really am a 'generalist' type of person which I enjoy because it feels 'right to me' and allows me to help others when I'm able. Phoebe and I are not retired, but expect it is the 'next career' for both of us. Honestly, I expect to semi-retire in 5-6 years, and migrate into independent work/ consulting to small businesses.
