john's Story
Hi Friends from Spokane Washington. I moved to Spokane in the middle of my Junior year. I was extremely shy so It was hard for me to get to know a lot of people. But I have to say you all were the nicest people I could ever imagine to have been aquainted with. Everyone was so nice! I am sorry if I seemed aloof or stuck up. I wasnt I was just shy. I guess I have wanted to say that for many years. So I finally did.
I was lucky, I was good at a couple of sports, tennis and basketball, so I made a lot of friends being involved with athletics. My tennis partner was Scott Nelson. Together as a doubles team we won , won, won! We went all the way to the state championship as Juniors. The next year we missed going by 1 game, and one point who I gave to the otherside because I wasnt sure if the ball was in or out. I later found out that the ball was out ( according to both...Expand for more
sides families that were watching). If I had called it out we would have won, but I just couldnt end it on such a close call. It was my call because I was closest. As you can see I never forgot that day. But there were many events in the short period of time I was there, that stood out in my mind. The girls I was fortunate enough to date were the sweetest, and cutest, of any highschool around. The guys were, well guys. What can i say! They were nice to me. They made me feel welcome even though in some ways I was competition for them. But I played sports with them too, and I really do appreciate them taking me in and including me as much as they did. I was so naive and shy I didnt know what to say half the time, but they taught me. So thankyou all for giving me so many wonderful experiences. I look back on my time at University High School as a great time in my life.
