John's Story

Hi Classmates! The other person in the photo is my fiance' Mary Coumbe (Oshkosh West High School class of 1982). We live here in Tulare, California with her two kids Thayer, age 19, and Gabrielle, age 18. My son David, age 17 lives not too far away in Danville. That is what brought me out here to California: my ex-wife Grace moved out to the San Francisco Bay area with my son back in 1996. I found a job as close to David as I could as a cytotechnician. I have been working here for 11 years now. I got a hold of my secret crush in high school, Mary Coumbe, after 18 years, in August 2001! I tracked her father"s address in Oshkosh and called him and he gave me her phone number in St Louis Park, Minnesota. I really surprised her and I felt I was home listening to her voice. One thing led to another and she finally moved out here to California. Now she is really busy in Physician Assistant school in Visalia...Expand for more
. I did graduate from medical school back in 1994 but I found that the life of a doctor wasn't for me. I help Mary study whatever I remember from my medical training. My favorite activities are trading rare dvd's and cd's of great historical violinists and playing the violin. I represented the state of Wisconsin in 3 national violin competitions when I attended West High, and I soloed with the Milwaukee Symphony, Fox Valley Symphony, and the Oshkosh Symphony. I went to France for two summers to study the violin with Aaron Rosand, who invited me to study with him at The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia when I was 17 years old. I graduated from West High when I was a Junior. I really miss my friends from middle school and high school and UW-Oshkosh and would appreciate any updates! Try and make it to my upcoming recital at the Senior Center (next to Fox Valley Tech) in Oshkosh, April 2 at 7 PM! John
