Rosaliy Lynne's Story
A lot has changed since I graduated BHS. In fact a lot has changed since the last reunion I attended. Now I am in Las Vegas, Nevada and have a most 'interesting' life.
Want to know more? Ask. If you are unlucky, I may even answer. <grin>
Added 09-19-09:
I met a friend from long ago,
when skating and dating were things we did.
I shared some changes she did not know,
things about me, once I'd hid.
Her heart broke and mine did too,
I wasn't the man who once she knew.
I'll remember those days so long ago,
and smile recalling the things we did.
But I've come to a place she will not go,
and follow me there I cannot bid.
Be well my friend. You always will be.

"Who are you really, John? Tell them here, "
Who am I really? Could I tell you true? Would you listen and accept what now is? Or would you, like another, cast me aside. I suppose I could tell you. But now the question becomes, "Should I. Will I?"

I retired in November, 2012. Since then I have gotten more politically active, among other things. Who I am today is not who I envisioned being, although, truth be told, I had never given MUCH thought to where I would be and where I am is certainly not something I could have foreseen. What is important to know is that I am happy, balanced and well adjusted. The person I am now is better than the one I started out as. If the class of '67 has another reunion and I can get to it, you just may meet this new me. Thinking about that I wonder how you will respond. Shock? Surprise? Acceptance? As my poem (above) says, I have already disappointed one of you but I can't go back to what I was. That person was not whole and complete. This person is.

07-23-2013: An amazing thing happened. A friend I met online, and have yet to meet in person, has invited me on an Alaska Cruise in September. I never would have thought it but am excited looking forward to this new experience. It will be the second time, other than by car, this new me has traveled anywhere and the first time traveling out of the US. Our ship sails from Vancouver BC on the 4th and returns there on the 11th. Even my sister will be going with us. She has always wanted to go on an Alaska cruise. I'm pretty much all set at this point - just marking the days till we go ...Expand for more
on this new adventure.
A few thoughts for you who read this: Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be opened to you. Ask and ye shall receive. Keep in mind, however, that if you are not ready for the answer, or don't have a mind open to changes and differences, perhaps you should not ask in the first place.
We are who we are. We become what we must and the circle of life goes on and on - never back.

I am wondering when or if the class of 67 will have another reunion. It'll be 50 years in 2017. I'll be there if I can.

Two friends I knew back then have contacted me here. To both I have revealed things that have changed since they knew me back in high school. An amazing thing happened. One accepted the changes and we keep in touch. The other, more recent, hasn't had time yet to absorb the changes. I wonder how she will react. Time will tell.

Dec 10-2015: I have added yet another change in November of this year. A new first and middle name, one more step along a long and winding road. I would never have considered the path I have taken back then but I am a far better person now than I ever was. Some of you may accept the changes, others will wonder what happened. Some few will reject them as at least two people I knew back then have. I make no apology for who I am.

On Dec 29th 2015, John passed into history and Rosaliy became finally real. She was always there since freshman year but no one knew of her. At the 20 year reunion I had the most kids. At the 50 year reunion, perhaps I will be "the most changed?"

January 22. 2016: Since the 5th, all my new documentation has continued to pour in. Only two things left to get - my real id license and my updated passport. The license application was completed yesterday and the passport application was mailed later that day. It has taken both more and less time than I expected. More time because it took so long before I started this last step; less because I expected it to take a lot longer than it did to put the changes in place.

May 25 2016: On April 25th I got the last link in my documentation. My new US Passport arrived.
