John's Story
Graduated LHS '86. Stayed at home to take care of sickly mother, worked 3rd shift at Bradlees department store while attending Fitchburg State College and graduated with Cum Laude honors in 1990 with a BS Computer Science with minor in Mathematics. I had moved from Leominster to Fitchburg my senior year at college. After graduating FSC, I soon realized that I loved to code, but hated debugging. Could not bring myself to work in a cubicle! (aka movie OFFICE SPACE, yeah that was me).
In 1993, I lost my best friend and our LHS classmate, Thomas Gruber, in a car accident. Lost my sports hero, Reggie Lewis, whom I've met a few times with his wife Donna Harris at autograph signings. Lost my grandmother and an in-law...Expand for more
. Following January lost my rock hero, Kurt Cobain. It was too much at once.
Moved to Ayer, MA in 1998 and worked at Apple Country Realty, Inc. until October 2004, when I moved to Orlando, FL to go back to school for computer repair.
Obtained my A+ and N+ certifications at Tech Skills in Orlando FL in 2005.
Moved to Tampa, FL March 2005 to be with my new partner and job at Hilton Reservations call center.
Switched jobs in 2006 to work for Digital Software Systems, Inc. A high speed document firm for large health insurance companies.
Moved again in Tampa with new and current partner in April 2008.
Unemployed since October 2012 of own choice to be with my partner.
Life is too short. Love life and live it!
