Jon's Story
Life
I have spent my professional life as a composer and teacher having composed music since I was a small child and being a teacher makes me feel useful and intellectually alive.
I was married three times:
Georganna Towne (d.) 1959-1974,
Elisabeth Appleton 1978-1980,
Esm� Thompson (1983-1996).
Raised three children:
Jennifer (b.1961) psychotherapist in
NYC, Jon Jason (b.1967) a musician in London [see jj.appleton.com],
Molly Thompson (b.1970) composer in NYC.
In 2006 I met Kirsten Elin and her two boys, Ezekiel (9) and Jett (7).
We now live together and it is wonderful to have a family again.
Have taught at Dartmouth since 1967. Now part-time at Stanford although I consider Vermont my home. Things I enjoy most are composing, performing and listening to music. Traveling around the world mostly in connecction to my m...Expand for more
usic. Time spent with dear friends. Enjoying the natural beauty of world, especially Vermont. Trying to speak foreign languages.
Compared to my personality at Marshall, I am equally energetic, impulsive, gregarious, sensitive, generous. I am different today being bisexual, slightly more patient, enjoy children more.
My best memories from Marshall are being in love with Tedi Siminowski, the National Forensic
League, running for Student Body President.
