Jon's Story

After High School I attended Arizona Automotive Institute. Also a brief stint at a computer school in Provo Utah. Moved to Phoenix in 1973 and worked at various jobs related to the automotive industry until the mid-80's when my true calling was realized. I've been in the horticultural field ever since. I own my company and work every day except Sunday. It seems to make sense to me that doing what you really like is much more satisfying than being stuck in a job you hate. I have 3 children all grown & 4 grandchildren. They are the pride of my life. I have lived in Arizona for 35 years, but I still have a place in my heart for my home state of Utah. I guess it makes sense, that you move from a small town, but somehow the small town never completely leaves you. I currently live in Chino Valley, Az. (About the size of Price). My wife Brenda and I own a home here & she works at the local Safeway. We enjoy our rural lifestyle and wouldn't trade it for any amount of money. Our family is scattered all over the world but we remain close with everyone. Im looking forward to semi-retirement in four years. I'd like to catch up on some fishing, woodworking, and sightseeing while I'm still physically able. I'm enjoying my new home & all the projects associate with it. I've got enough to...Expand for more
keep me busy for the rest of my retirement in 4 years! God Bless, Jon p.s Things I remember I always wanted to be a gardner when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a dumb idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. My Grandpa on myMom's side. He was molded by his experiences,& led by example. Patience will bring results & criticism brings animosity. If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to charity, then spend the rest on my wife, my kids and family. My current age is 57. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be the same always. I was so completely naive. Robert Carranza He lived on C street in Helper & was our neighbor for 20 years. When I was 6 years old I went to Disney Land what a blast! Memories are a key part of our past, they play a big part in molding our character for our future. I'll usually take a walk or do something in my rose beds, or maybe just get in my composition book and write my feelings down, then I'm done with it! Update: The 40th year class reunion for Carbon High School which I also am an alma mater, is having is 40th year class reunion for the class of '69, next summer 2009. I've been told that the chair is Carol Bene. Congratulations Carol!
