Life
Jon P Guthrie A.K.A.Lyrical Lizard is one of the most unique artist to hit the music industry in years.With an ability to do any style of music imaginable which is rare these days.Combining every genre of music including Alternative Rock & Rap blended with a unique Hip Hop story telling ability.
Lyrical's other credits include making music aired on the 2 biggest FM Radio Stations in the World "Mancow's Morning Madhouse Q 101.1 FM (In Syndication) & Howard Stern (Serius Satilite Radio) Both which are in syndication across the globe.
History/Biography
Lyrical Lizard, a name heard buzzing through the Midwest. Jon Guthrie aka Lizard to most, was born in Gary, Indiana home of mega superstar Michael Jackson.Went down south briefly and attended School in Alabama but then came back home and graduated from "William A Wirt H.S." the same High School as R&B Singer sensation Jesse Powell and the 83 Rookie Of The Year for Chicago White Sox Baseball Player "Ron Kittle". Growing up, Lizard was destined to entertain the world with his multiple musical talents.
At the age of 7, he was already performing for audiences in church and school talent shows, just as the Jackson family did in the early 70s. Lyrical Lizard was a natural when it came to music and at the age of 12 he saved up enough money to buy his first set of Technic 1200 turntables.
As a DJ, he swarmed the early and mid-eighties scene doing local house parties and entering contests such as Battle of the DJs in East Chicago, IN. Lizard learned the tricks of the trade from then newcomer "Bad Boy Bill" from the Chicago radio station WGCI, Julian Jumpin' Perez, and a local DJ from the group Los Marijuanos, "Ponyboy". Lizard picked up mixing and scratching with ease, but knew deep down inside that he wanted to do more than spin records.
As the rap scene began growing quickly, Lizard began writing rhymes and performing at house and rap parties. As 1989 rolled around, he was impressed by a new rapper on the scene named Slick Rick. As the 90s rolled around, Dr. Dre's "THE CHRONIC" album began tearing up the airwaves and rap was taking on a darker side. That didnt stop Lyrical Lizard from sticking to his love for Story Telling Rap. Living in Gary and seeing all the struggles of street life wasnt easy. His comedic rhymes were simply a way of escaping all the drama that surrounded him. Listening to his music, you can get a feel for the streets, but in a unique style of hip hop.
Still old school at heart, the millenium was about to hit and Lizard still hadnt crawled out from under his rock. As the years passed, he wondered if success would ever come to him. With the ups and downs of the streets, there were a few doubts that he would ever see his dream come true.

In 2001, Lyrical Lizard dropped such singles as "Gat Rappin," a song about dealing with life's struggles in Gary, IN; "Luney Tunez," a comedic cartoon rap, and his latest single, "Caught Up", a rhyme about doing some time. Lyrical Lizard is also played weekly on Chicago's #1 Alternative Rock Station Q 101.1 FM and around the globe in syndication... Mancow's Morning Madhouse...
In 2004 His debut cd entitled L.I.F.E.an acronym for (Lizard-In-Full-Effect)also included guest appearences by Howard Sterns, Scary movie 2, and Bubble Boy's own "BEETLEJUICE!!!" a must have for die hard Stern/Beetlejuice fans as well.L.I.F.E was dedicated to Paul Roy Guthrie.

Influenced by comedic rapper "Slick Rick",whose 1988 release "The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick" is an 80's rap milestone Lyrical immersed himself in the "Art of Story Telling" Rap Style.After years of personal highs and lows,Lizard is soaring these days with self-penned and produced songs for Mancow Muller from "Mancows Morning Madhouse" to Howard Sterns regular wackpacker "Beetlejuice".His debut 2004 release, L.I.F.E, an acronym for Lizard-In-Full-Effect also included special guest appearences by Beetlejuice,High Pitch Eric,and two tracks of the cd, "Who Got The Juice" and "The Beetle Bunch" made the soundtrack for the mainstream comedy Dvd "Beetle Uncensored" in stores worldwide.Lyrical also wrote and produced the theme song for the Washington Based Micro Wrestling Federation played across the country on the "Vans Warped Tour".Other credits include MurderDogg Magazine,Wolftown Uk's Rago Magazine,MCTV,Comcast Cable,ARW Wrestling,Nw Indiana's Post Tribune and Times,as well as several other media outlets.Look for his second cd release entitled "Lizard Of Oz" set to release Mid 07'
