Jon's Story
Life
The day after graduting High school I shipped out for Army Basic Training. I signed up to be an infantry vehicle mechanic. After six months of special training at FT. Knox, Ky I was assigned to an air defense artillery unit in Wackernheim, Germany. In the summer of 1998 I was deployed with my unit to Bosnia for operations "Joint Guard" and "Joint Fordge". In Nov 1999 I attended Special Forces Selection, but was medically dropped after sustaining a knee injury. I was then reassigned to a field artillery unit in Ft. Hood, TX. In the spring of 2000 I re-enlisted for 4 years and requested reassignment to Germany for 3 more years. Before I returned to Germany I went back to Special Forces Selection. I completed the 21 days course and was selected to train as "Green Beret" medical Sergeant. I returned to my first unit in Germany and in Jan of 2001 was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. dance while I await my orders to attend 2 years of Special Forces training and medical school. Apon completion of this school I will be 30 college credits away from a civilian PA. I did a year of Special Forces, didn't quite make the grade and was sent to the 1st Cavalry Division, where I got deployed to Iraq for a year, where I met my lovely wife, Marianke, through an online penpal site, and I won her heart, and we got married right after Homecoming from Iraq. After homecoming, I got awarded with the Bronze Star Medal, for my actions in Iraq, which means heroism and leadership during a huge attack by insurgents. I reenlisted for another 6 years in the US Army, after already having served for 8 years.
I came down with orders for Recruiting, and find myself, with my wife and 7 month old puppy, up north, as a US Army Recruiter for the next 3 years. I am planning on putting my package in for Warrant Officer as a Helicopter Pilot.
