Jordan (Jorge)'s Story
Life
I feel I'm finally to the point where I admit I totally blew it by not making the most of my high school years. It took my experiences in Vietnam to know the cold, harsh reality of truth and the brutality of losing my naivete to become familiar with the concept of survival.
I'm sixty years old and yes, I've had my share of regrets but for the most part I've been very lucky to have more 'wins' than 'losses'. I'm married to the lady of my dreams for 27 years... and going strong and I have three sons who will grow up to be far better men than I ever thought of becoming. Unlike me... they all have a better grasp of life than I did at their age.
In the last few years since I wrote these occurrences, there have been some significant changes in our lives.
My wife, Sharon became a grandmother, (yes... she
did but I'm not accepting the "grand" part of life yet!).
I resigned my commission and began an International
Consulting Inc. Wrote three books that sold very well in Europe and Asia and landed a contract here in the US. And somehow, I conned my way into the U of Maryland to be accepted into their Psychology Dept to get my Ph.D! I owe it all to Greta Baldwin in counseling not to quit PSHS when things seemed so irrelevant in a teen's life!
I am so happy that I made an attempt to know my classmates. Now that so much time and things have happened. I have heard from a great many of you and I hope to become more familiar with you in the future. In the beginning of this endeavor I wasn't so sure any of you would remember me. I am pleased and thoroughly surprised by the outcome. I know a few of you have shown me a great deal of kindness in the past... but presently
If anyone has the time and the interest... please contact me. Good friends are a rare commodity these days... friendships by far are one of the greatest riches in this life.
(Installation - Part II)...
Having experienced major reaction to my previous submissions (to date: 31), I now know that I am free to express my most, most intimate thoughts and experiences... with the utmost confidence that some one will witness the words I commit to print.
It is a celebration... a revival of times, past - in the confessional with Monsignor O' Brien... or the proverbial "tell all" to Dear Abby - with...Expand for more
out any of the possibilities or complications. So with Bob Seger maxed out in the background... I bid adieu to all repression AND LET LOOSE TO "ROLL ME AWAY"!!!
As we have all felt at one time or another (and as one Mr. Robert Seger would aptly express...) "I'VE BEEN LOST AND BEEN DOUBLE-CROSSED..." we ALL have had been "intercoursed" by the system! For all you mentally-challenged - a translation... WE'VE ALL BEEN SCREWED! When the former running-mate of H. Ross Perot authored a story "put out there" by Reader's Digest... the gauntlet had been thrown by the author in which the incident reported by destroyers of the US Navy;
USS Maddox and USS Turner Joy... were "creative embellishments" perpetrated by the "????" and in conjunction with the two aforementioned ships' companies in which was said that the two warships were being "attacked" by numerous patrol boats of the Government of North Vietnam. So with that in mind, along with the recent memories of "Camelot"
disintegrating... young King "Arthur" blown apart and the beautiful, idyllic Queen "Guinevere" reflected the shock that We all felt... resonated in the one fiber capable of making all who could stand up and support the fragile and "devoted young widow"...who could support "the 3-year-old orphan"
who saluted - coached - in the largest photo-essay... We the most naive and most susceptible segment of the American population ever-witnessed!!! That "fiber" was able to channel all that excess testosterone into a feeding frenzy that would make the storied ritual... singling out of the most vicious sharks ever known by mankind to engage into the most violent, most horrific displays of predatory insanities... appear as if it were as "the-most-innocuous"... as the weekly neighborhood bridge parties (attended by seniors aged 65...and above)...thats all!!! Orgies; fraternity-house business-as-usual; rock-star after concert tete-a-tete(s) - NEED NOT APPLY!!! Nothing but the most sanctified gatherings approved by Sister Theresa and her organization of "Catholicism's-most-likely-to-be-canonized"... Am I making my point?
I always wanted to be a musician when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a "distant" idea. As it turns out, they were correct... but life isn't over yet.
