Jose's Story

Jose is the founder and President of L5 Source, an IT consulting firm specializing in IT strategy, business systems development, and outsourcing. The company balances risk, quality and cost through the deployment of resources that combine vertical industry knowledge, industrial strength quality processes, and proven technology expertise. His company has forged alliances across the globe and the US, allowing L5 Source to have a very diverse and talented human resources pool. Prior to founding L5 Source, Jose held executive level IT positions in global organizations in the Consumer Packaged Goods, Telecommunications, Retail and Energy industries. At Duke Energy, his immediate prior employer, Jose was responsible for the IT organization that supported a $2 billion business, with 1.4 million customers, across multiple geographic locations. He drove the re-engineering, design, upgrade and integration of the company’s business processes and systems, enabling the corporation to open its markets to competition in the deregulated industry segments of electric transmission, distribution and customer service. He changed the culture of the IT organization to a performance based one by emphasizing customer service, a deep understanding of the business, and measurable results. He was also highly visible in the company’s diversity efforts, including serving on various internal working groups to increase diversity through recruitment, education on diversity issues, and more aggressive development of minority employees. Duke Energy, Jose worked at Nine West Group, a global retailer. At Nine West, he was responsible for the company’s Shared Services IT capabilities for Finance, Human Resources, and the computing & telecommunications infrastructure environment across 10 locations. Through his leadership, Nine West was able to transition through a challenging M&A transaction by re-structuring a strategic relationship with a key vendor that provided critical computing infrastructure support. This new structure allowed the M&A initiative to be completed on the time and meet the financial objectives expected by Wall Street investors. Jose started his career at Procter & Gamble. He held positions in the IT organization in Mexico and the US. His key accomplishment was leading and facilitating the integration of P&G Mexico’s newly acquired Richardson Vicks Mexican subsidiary. During his US assignment, he also was a key leader in the IT organization’s efforts to pro-actively address the recruitment and development of non-African American minorities into Procter & Gamble US’ IT organization. Jose obtained his B.S. in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Mexico, and his MBA from Xavier University, graduating Beta Gamma Sigma Affiliations Hispanic IT Executive Council – Cofounder and former Board of Directors member Cleveland Federal Reserve – Member of the Business Advisory Council National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA) – Cofounder and 2007 President of the Cincinnati Chapter Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Cincinnati – Past Vice President and member of the Board of Directors Xavier University - Advisory Board of Xavier University’s Williams College of Business.
