Jose's Story
I started working during the end of my sophomore year in high school. I worked for the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department during the Summer of 76. While a Junior in High School, I worked for The White House Department Store (Basset Center) as a lay-a-way clerk. I worked there my entire Junior year. As a Senior, I joined the V.O.E. program which helped me land a job at the El Paso Convention & Visitors Bureau. Although these jobs were part time, it took me out of the loop from extra- curricular school activities. One thing that i learned from always working, was responsibility, dedication, and how to get along with people. er my 4 year enlistment I returned home and started working in the warehousing and distribution field for various twin plants, as a Supervisor. In 1985 i got married to a lovely lady from Bowie High School. It took me a while to earn my degree, but eventually i received my B.S. in Management. Soon the twin- plant industry wasn't thriving anymore and many plants were shut down. From there on i worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas ( El Paso Branch), Region 19, and even did a stint as one of El Paso's finest ( EPPD). My wife who is a veteran teacher, going on 29 years, convinced me to get my teaching certification and become a teacher. I love it! I'm a 6th grade teacher. Life is good, God is good!
Our daughter is attending Law School in San Antonio. Best wishes to all you Rangers....Class of 78
