Jose's Story

Life Hi. I'm back in Del Rio and am the Chief Avionics Inspector and Director of Metrology for the Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations Unit. I completed a degree in Management and am working on a Master's program in Project Management. Don't know if you remember my two daughters, Mayra is now 18 and attending UT in Austin, TX***GO LONGHORNS*** and Ana is 15 and is active with the High School band. Anita and I are having a blast chasing the two around with all their school activities and functions. CBP Air and Marine Ops (formerly the US Border Patrol) is very busy and fast paced. After merging with the former US Customs agency, my promotion to Director of Metrology for Homeland Security's only PMEL lab keeps me busy on a daily basis.....but who's complaining? It's fun. I get to direct all PMEL functions, contract negotiations and operations, as well as work with some really great people. Next Summ...Expand for more
er, my job will take me to San Angelo, TX. I will be one of the co-directors of the CBP AMO Avionics Mod and Install Center at Mathis Field. We'll see how that goes. Well, thanks for catching up with me. Send me a message sometime. See ya! School Well, I knew I had made the right decision when I took Mr (Mad Dog) McCain's electronics class in high school. He was a cool teacher. He is also a former Navy avionics troop. His guidance and direction led me to what I am today. Thanks Mr. McCain. I served six years in the US Air Force as an Avionics Tech, left the service and worked DOD as an Avionics Tech, and am now a chief inspector in a Part 145 repair station for the Department of Homeland Security. I even worked on and completed a Bachelor of Science Degree centered around avionics. DeVry University...good school. I graduated Magna Cum Laude on February 2006. Thanks to Mad Dog McCain and Mrs. Linda Fernandez of Del Rio for all the help while in school.
