Jose Puliafito:

CLASS OF 1967
Silver spring, MD

Jose's Story

I am not sure if I have registered in the right school and class that I attended, or if any of you can remember me at all; in any case it has been nice going back in my mind to those happy days in the school yards at Woodside's Elementary. I was there only for two years (1966-67), half of fifth grade and the full sixth grade at Woodside Elementary; and then less than half year at Montgomery Junior High School. I got there from Argentina, because my Dad was appointed at that time to the Argentine Embassy. During my staying I had to learn English which was not easy at the beginnig, but not too hard afterwards as I got integrated in the class and became friend of the kids. I can remember our teacher (a very nice man), Mr Briggs, I think, who had a lot of patience with me. I also remember Stephen (perhaps Stephen Manso?) and his inseparable friend and classmate Artie; now comes to my mind also Mark and all of us playing greek dodge ball and basket. Although I try to remember Caroline Mitchell and other names, I cannot; but be sure that all you are there in my heart, in that little part of me where my infancy still lives. Just incidentally I came at the classmates.com, because one of my sons was searching at Google Earth for finding some place in USA. I then tried to see how Silver Spring and our ol...Expand for more
d school looked now , but I found it was not there anymore, at least in the place I remember. The building where I think the school was, (Woodside area just besides a new park in 1st Av. and Spring Av), seems now to be a facility of the Montgomery County. Searching in the internet for the Woodside Elementary School I found this web and saw Caroline and Stephen names. Once I left USA back to my country, I started growing up as any of you. I attended the university (for electronic engineering) and then worked in several places. Life and my work gave me the opportunity to visit other places of the world like Germany, where I stayed for more than one year, and even to return once more to USA for a short visit, while being at Toronto. During my university days I came to know the love of my life, my wife, to which I have been married for already thirty years; with her we brought three kids to this world , all grown up now, but still living with us (the bigger one is a lawyer and is prompt to get married). We are proud of them. I hope that all you have had good lives and that you are surrounded of the love from your families and friends, as in my case, thanks to God. Now at my fifties, I come to appreciate more those brief moments the life gives you, where peace and good memories come, like this one... Adios
