Joseph's Story

Life Stranger things have happened... In 1987,I was fresh out of active duty with the army and was looking for a grad school. My girlfriend and I looked all over the country for a school and settled on U-Mass,Amherst. We rented a small place in Wendell,Ma., eventually falling in love with the town and buying a 50 acre farm. We raise sheep, Scottish Highland cattle, chickens and sometimes pigs and turkeys. We also have a Llama, two dogs and three cats. It's a big change from the burbs, but oddly enough there are lots of what we call "NJ Refugees" here. We're about 75 miles west of Boston. (It's alot of fun being a Yankees fan in MA.) I get back to NJ occasionally. Two of my sisters still live in the area and my wife is from Livingston. I'm still in touch with Pete Rossomando, Joe Defino, Rich Buthmann, Dan Reiter, Al Bleznick, and Mike Isserman. We still get together whenever possible. College I started at Seton Hall in the Fall of '78. I joined ZBT that year making a few new friends quickly. I left Seton Hall after the spring semester of 1980. I took two years off then began taking classes at Kean College in the Fall of '82. I graduated Kean in May of '...Expand for more
85 at the same time having earned a commission in the Army thru Seton Hall's ROTC program. After some time on active duty, I moved to Massachusetts, eventually going to Grad School at Antioch New England Grad School in Keene, NH. I earned an M.Ed. in the spring of '95. I'm currently working in Education and am taking graduate classes at Elms College in Chicopee, MA. Military If you knew me then, it's no surprise that I eventually did join the Army. I never actually got around to enlisting as an Infantryman until I was 23. Within two years of enlisting I was commissioned as a 2nd Lt.and branched Infantry. I did most of my active duty time at CONUS assignments, like Ft. Benning and Ft.Bragg. While in the reserves, Ft.Dix, Camp Edwards, Fort Drum and Fort Devens. While stationed at Ft. Bragg I was there at the same time as a close friend from Spfld. Jon Schramm. My units included: The School Brigade at Benning, and the 78th "Jersey Lightning" ID. Also the 26th "Yankee" ID (2BN/104th IN) and lastly the 29th Light Infantry Division ( 1BN/104th IN).("Blue & Gray Division"). You might catch me in Jersey sometime "running" with the Summit Hash House Harriers...
