I attended St. Clement from 1st grade thru 8th grade, 1956-1963. I had many classmates that I befriended or walked home together with, like Linda Realmuto, Cindy Koenig, Kathy McDonough, Terry McGovern, Claude Oberheim, Michael Bresnan, Joey Somoggi,Eddie Schmidt,PJ Kolometz, Pat O'Shea, Freddie DeHoff, Frank Oliva, Mary Alice Strang, the Carroll Brothers, Tommy and Larry...The nuns used to waylay me because I was a rambunctious young lad, Sister Dominic Marie, Miss Chambers, Sister Geralyn, and the notorious principal Sister Ida (Ho Potato)..lol...We lived on the corner of Dayton and Schubert, above Hannerts grocery store. There was another corner grocery a block away, called Vans, at Mildred and Schubert. We lived at 2658 Dayton, halfway between Diversey and Wrightwood. I remember the Rexall at Lincoln and Wrightwood, next to the laundromat. There was also a laundromat at Halsted and Wrightwood. I was a crossing guard , a patrol boy, with belt, for several years at Halsted and also at Burling, and then at Orchard and Wrightwood.
