Joe's Story
Life
Well...since I last posted, things are going well still.
Sold the frigging money pit...the horse. Got rid of all things equine! Finally, it is nice to have money to do things like uhm...go on a real vacation!
We bought some property and plan to build our second house. Pretty nice lot, fully wooded, more remote, yet only 10 minutes from I-90. We are going to wait until the housing market improves before we put our current house up for sale. The houses in our development are going for way less than they are worth. We'll sit on our lot and take our time designing our next home.
School
It sucked...enough said...
College
It wasn't until college (or technical school in this case) until I was actually accepted and made real friends. It's amazing when you surround yourself with mature people.
The 2 years I had at PIA were the best two years of my life. I made great friends and had alot of fun. School was fun for a change. Although I didn't get into the aviation field (Thank God), I still learned alot to get me where I am at now.
Workplace
Work...started by delivering the News-Herald.....Expand for more
.then worked at Little Caesar's, Best Products, Reider's Stop-n-Shop, Red Lobster, Sarducci's, Lake Business Products...all during high school...
During college...Little Caesar's and a clothing store in the Century Three Mall in Pittsburgh.
After college..started as a electrician then worked my way into electrical design for the automation industry. Astro, Kase, and SDC were all the same. When I got laid off from SDC, I went to Norman Noble as a maintenance technician then was promoted to Facilities Engineer, my current position. It is a very cool job.
Yep...Norman Noble kicks ass...the last three years has been nothing but a fountain of accomplishments for me and the company. I am learning so much in field of plant management and am currently responsible for the facility design and technical operations of our recent 120,000 sq/ft expansion to meet customer demands. I can see myself taking over my boss' job when he retires, which is probably a good 5 or 6 years away. Plenty of time to get more experience and confidence to do his job which is ridiculously high-paced. If not, no big deal..but we'll see.
