Joe Smith Bio. Joseph Smith was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1960 to Walter and Josephine Smith. The sale of Joseph Smith¿s first work of art at the age of five became the stimulus for the insatiable passion for the world of art that he possesses. Encouraged by his mother, an artist herself, and tutored in art by his brother, John, until he reached fourteen, Joseph developed his one-of-a-kind artistic skills and imagination. At the age of six, Joseph set his sights on becoming a wildlife artist. After fifteen years of diligent work and effort, he was forced to abandon the industry and change gears to commercial art due to the overwhelming presence of discrimination in the industry.
