Joseph James Strauch began his journey having entered the world in Manhattan on the heels of the Blizzard of '47 as the only child of his late, extraordinary parents Joseph and Margaret Blasko Strauch.
Joe's first twenty five years were engrossed in NYC education, culture, arts, values and attitude. He graduated from LaSalle Academy and earned his B.B.A. from Baruch College, where he continued towards a Master of Computer Methodology. During his college years, Joe served in the Army National Guard, and embarked on his career at MetLife. He was awarded a L.O.M.A. Fellowship for his studies in Law and Information Technology, and achieved multiple I.C.C.P. certifications.
In '74 Joe relocated from NYC to MetLife's Clarks Summit Computer Center, building his home in Clinton Township. He joined the Factoryville Men's Civic Club...Expand for more
and was a member of the Lackawanna Kennel Club as an obedience trainer and as President. He was also a Vice-President of the International Management Club.
After retiring from MetLife as a Senior Systems Analyst in '01, Joe's hobbies consumed much of his time. He worked as an independent I.T. consultant, videographer and webmaster. As an Adjunct Instructor at Keystone College, Joe brought his practical experience into the classroom. DBA "The Video Guy" for over a quarter of a century, he integrated his expertise of electronics into audio, film and videography.
Joe enjoyed traveling: in '73 he took an excursion around the Pacific, stopping in Hawaii, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti and a few west coast cities. He visited England, France, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Iceland. Joe explored 43 of our states and both coasts of Canada and Mexico. Also with his beloved wife and family, Joe enjoyed cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean.
Joe supports the community at his church's events, the Scranton Cultural Center and by becoming a public servant. He was elected School Board Director for Lackawanna Trail and State Committeeman for Wyoming County.
