Joshua's Story

Life I graduated form Mayer High school in May of 1997. I was wanting to join the Military afterwards and went to Texas because of the benefits of being a veteran in that state. I was wanting to join the Air Force, but the recruiter did not appeal to me so I ended up in the Army. Joined in Jan of 1998 and began a wild ride. One of my overseas tour's was 6 months in Bosnia and spent alot of time training in many states. Was discharged in Jan of 2001 from active service and transfered into the Army Reserve. Took on a full time job as a spray in bedliner applicator and worked there for two years before I was called up by the Army Reserve to go fight the war in Iraq. Came back home in March 2004 and decieded to make a change. Moved back to Arizona because I missed my friends and some of the freedom's that the state offer's. I began renting from a friend out in Surprise and started work full time at Robinson's May at metro center as a Loss Prevention Agent. I also transferred into the Air Force Reserve as a Security Forces Officer on a 2 year hitch. I separated from the Air Force in August of 2006 and decieded to go full time civilian. Robinsons May was bought out by the Macy's Corporation and I did 2 more years with them before I was hired by Home Depot in August '07. I then made the decision to start my civilian law enforcement career and was hired by the Maricopa County Sheriff's office in Sept '08 as a Detention Officer. I still work part time at Home depot as well. School I couldn't ask for a better high school than Mayer. I always liked the small town status and tight knit communities. If I could go back to high school with the knowledge I now have it would be more awesome than before! I made some good friends that I am still in contact with today and will be looking forward to a reu...Expand for more
nion. Workplace I have worked many jobs and have gained alot of experience through them all. My last job I sprayed bedliners and used to love doing it. The environment was good and my boss was awesome, real down to earth. My newest job is Loss Prevention for the Robinson's May Corporation and I am loving every minute of it. Running down shoplifter's is the greatest adrenaline rush you can ever have! Robinsons May was bought out by the Macy's corporation in October of 2005. I moved on to Home Depot for more money and was tired of Metrocenter. I then decieded to drop the Loss Prevention gig and now work for Sheriff Joe. Military I started my military life right after high school. I was sent to Fort Sill, OK to train to be a Field Artilleryman. Right after completion I was sent to the 1st Calvary Division at Fort Hood, TX as my permanent duty station. In Septemeber of 1998 I was sent to Bosnia in support of operation Joint Forge for a 6 month rotation. I went to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, CA for combat training in January of 2000. The same year in Semptember we were deployed to Montana to fight the 9 mile fire. I separated active duty in January of 2001 and joined the Army Reserves, 302nd Military Police Company, Grand Prairie, TX in Febuary of the same year. In January of 2003 our unit was called up in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In March of the same year our unit was sent to Iraq in support of Opertion Iraqi Freedom. Now I have moved to Arizona and joined the Air Force Reserves and am in the 944th Security Forces Squadron at Luke Air Force Base which is located in Glendale, AZ. I had alot of fun making new friends and going on lots of assignments and training missions. I separated from the Air Force in August of 2006 and have went back to full time civilian.
