Joy's Story
Life
Only 4 years since graduating high school and so much has happened!
Right now I'm stationed at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, near Adana with my husband, Jeremy. If you look for it on a map, its in the southeastern part of the country near the Med Sea. After finishing college, I decided I might as well join the military too. I didn't make a good housewife and soon figured out I should have planned on being in the military all along.
Mostly I stay busy (along with everyone else at this crazy base) just working. We're really a hot spot for so many operations including Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. I'm a Services officer, which means my squadron is responsible for all the fun stuff on base (bowling alle...Expand for more
y, club, gym, library, etc.), as well the not-so-fun stuff, like returning fallen soldiers from Afghanistan back to the US. Yeah.. those aren't good days.
To stay sane, we try to get off base and travel as much as possible. Turkey is a fascinating country with so much history and culture. We'll never see everything we'd like to, but we'll try. For the 4th of July weekend, we might go to Cyprus or Istanbul. We've done a few day trips, but we want to get away further.
If anyone wants to come for a visit, we have an open room for you. Or actually- we'll have to find a room for you off base. But travel is cheap and we'll make sure we show you a good time.
