Joy's Story
I finally broke down and bought a Gold Membership. Tell my story...well, there is not enough space. After high school (Palm Beach High School), I went to junior college in SC and then Mercer Univ. in GA where I met my first husband. After we married he decided to go to seminary and became a Presbyterian minister and then an Army chaplain. Our daughter was born a few months after he left for Viet Nam. The war in Viet Nam also took my brother and only sibling when his plane was shot down in 1972.
After the Army we went to two mission churches in Eastern Kentucky and our son was born there. After 14 years of marriage, he and I parted ways. In Atlanta GA I met and married the "love of my life", another Presbyterian minister. We lived in Texas and Arkansas and are now retired in the Arkansas Ozarks. We been married for 33 wonderful years.
We have 6 children between us and 10 grandchildren. We love the outdoors...live in ...Expand for more
the country on 24 acres complete with dog, cats, garden, and lots of peace and quiet. We still walk/jog about 10/12 miles a week, swim laps for exercise, and love life. My hobbies are cooking, gardening, reading and genealogy. I love the computer and am having fun with Facebook. I'm an elder in 1st Presbyterian Church in Harrison AR and involved with committee work in the Presbytery of Arkansas. I also am on the board of the local library.
We travel a lot, now mostly in the US and often to see our children who live all over the country.
How have I changed? Well, don't we all mellow as we age? I have a strong faith, and a certain belief that no matter what happens, God has it under control and doesn't need me to worry about it. That sure takes a load off my shoulders. I still have an independent streak and enjoy the "road less traveled", but I'm more comfortable with that at 68.
All I can say is life is good!
