Joyce's Story
Life
Well lets see here is an update. I am still a volunteer firefighter and for now still working the boring desk job. But that is only temporary. I am well on my way to being a career firefighter. Still have some classes to finish up but not much further!
I have 3 boys of my own and one bonus boy from my husband. Yes, together we have 4 boys! He is also a fire fighter too. When we moved out here (after Hurricane Rita) we joined the volunteer department together. Those men, one big & four little; are the light of my life and my reason for everything I do. Workplace
I went from working as a Bill Collector to being an EMT; now Volunteer Fire Fighter. I basically use the Fire Department to keep skills I learned in College up to speed. Plus the volunteer hours counts as experience too. I know that was a complete career change. I hated being a bill collector and did something about it by putting myself through school. Now that I want to take my career further, I still have more college to pursue. I still need to finish my Paramedic, then I can go to the Fire Academy. I am really looking forward to that day!
