Life People who know me say that I am a survivor. I would surely like to think of myself as more than that, but it is definitely true. I left a horrible family life after my first marraige at the age of 16 and lived in Iceland for a year and then Virginia. Became a full blown alcoholic by age 22 and nearly died. Anorexic down to 82 lb., I "got sober" in 1979 and stayed that way for 15 yr. before my first relapse that occurred after I ESCAPED from my second husband. From that point on I had several relapses, none which lasted very long, but caused much damage. During my worst relapse I managed to destroy my closest and most precious friendship with my lifelong friend, Carol. If you ever read this Carol, I am so sorry and understand why you have chosen to detach. I have fought my way back again to a sober, but lonely life. I have no contact with any of my "family" since my brother Wayne committed suicide. They are too toxic. So, yes, I am a survivor, but I'm also much more than that!
