Joyceann's Story

Life Currently my husband, youngest child, and I are living north of Baltimore, MD. Ed, my husband, was transferred here in '02. The US Can plant in Dallas, TX closed and he was offered here or CA. The west coast seemed a bit too far from OH so we took MD. Our youngest child, Adam is a freshman at Harford Community College. His plan is two years here then tranfer to Kent State to finish his BS in computer sciences. We left 2 oldest children in Ohio when we moved to Dallas. James (32) has custody of his daughter Patricia Ann (10) and James Edward (9). James graduated from KSU. He bought a home in Akron last year and is employed by Bridgestone. Rebecca (Becky) (29) and husband Andrew have 2 children, a daughter, Abby born Nov '05 and a son Zach Jan '07. Becky has a MBA from KSU and is pursuing degree in law at the University of Akron. We left Elizabeth and Amy in Texas when we moved to MD. Beth (26) and Marcus have a daughter Alexandria born Dec 06. Amy is single and loves being an aunt! I wasted too much time in TX mourning over the things I was missing in Ohio. There were so many events that I couldn't afford to fly back and forth to make. But I had a life in TX that could fill my time. Unfortunately, I have less of a life here and even more of a life else where. I see the mistake of wasting time whining over what I can't control. I have a lot of time since I am on disability. Seen any good movies? School revised Dec 2007. My profile has been visited by people who don't know me. I have listed several high schools. Schools that I didn't attend. To explain why ... I grew up in Chagrin Falls, OH. I went to St Joan of Arc grade school. Many of my classmates left for the local public schools.I attended Notre Dame all four years 70 - 74. BUT I lived in Chagrin Falls the whole time and a local public school had to bus us. Chagrin paid Kenston to do it. Lived in Chagrin and was Kenston Buses every day for 4 years but went to Notre Dame. I didn't attend their classes but I saw those people everyday. Notre Dame is in Chardon. quite a bit away for a 14a ...Expand for more
lot of miles from where I lived. It is an all girls school. I made friends there. BUT I went to football game at Chagrin and Kenston. I dated the guys from Chagrin and Kenston. I started first grade at Western Row Road Elementary school in Mason, Ohio. I did not attend kindergarten. It was optional back then. My mother and I moved to Chagrin Falls at the end of the school year and I started second grade at St Rita's in Solon, Ohio. In 1965, our parish school at St. Joan of Arc was completed so I began fourth grade there. Three schools in four years. I loved St. Joan's! So much so that in 1995 I organized the first school reunion. Our 25 year reunion was wonderful. I got responses from as far away as France and they came from all over OH, PA and even GA. They sent letters and pics so I was able to make a booklet. It was not easy since I had to gather the info from scratch. It is illegal to give out any info on grade school children. Nothing. I had no internet and no budget. Believe me. it was worth it. if i wasn't in MD I would probably do it again. Anyway, back to 1970 ... I didn't change schools again until my mother sent me off to Notre Dame Academy in Chardon. This time I was not alone in my change ... my 29 classmates went off in 6 different directions. Chagrin, Kenston, West Geauga, Notre Dame and 2 different Boys Catholic schools. There were teachers I liked and a few good friends. It was a good education. But it was too far from home. I couldn't get involved in anything. I couldn't stay after. I had no way home until I was a senior and could drive myself. One thing for sure ... I did not belong in a 'private' school and that's what it is. College College wasn't a fun time. Looking for classmates you remember. Probably don't remember me at Lakeland, TriC or Kent State. I took classes when I could, where I could. I married young, had 6 children (5 in 6 years and 6 years later I had the 6th.) Some times working while attending college I didn't have much time to socialize. It took 21 years but I did graduate. finally. and with Honors.
