Joye's Story
I am a mother of three. Grandmother of three. Wife for 26 years. I recently retired from the working world to pursue my writing career now that all my children but one are grown.
I always wanted to be an artist of some sort when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a crazy idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
I blow off steam by meditation. It works great for me.
When I got married I moved to the outskirts of Jonesboro, twenty-six years later I find myself back here, LOL. I moved to Van Buren for about eight years then moved to Florida for seven years before finding my way to my current home here in Jonesboro.
My obsessions in life is creating. Whether it be in landscaping, painting a room in my house, or writing one of my novels. I just can't seem to get enough where creativity is concerned!!! It is my passion!!!
I would have to say my biggest surprise in life is where I am today, LOL. I never truly thought I could completely leave behind all that kept me idle for all those years. But I found a new and wonderful strength within myself that has finally set me free and I am holding onto it with all my might!!!
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my upstairs, add that screen porch off my bedroom, and make an office out of the attic and add on a multilevel deck in my backyard. My dream home would be right where I am today.
What I have learned from my kids is so fantastic. They have taught me that I am good at being a mom. My kids and I have a great relationship. Through their eyes I have seen all that I am and can be!!!
My current age is 47. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old. I was so completely wrong, LOL.
As I said eariler I am pursuing a writing career at the present time. I have joined a great bunch of authors in the Indiana Romance Writers of America. I don't know what I would do without them they are just fantastic. I also belong to Romance Writers of America national group, which have led me to my Indiana chapter. One is never too old to pursue their dreams!!! As I have learned over and over through my chapter sisters. Update here: As of March 2009 a major publishing company has requested a portion of my paranormal romance. I am still waiting to hear back from her, however, when I pitched my manuscript at our conference she loved my storyline, my concept, and my idea, and could not wait to see how I put it all together!!! So for me that was huge!!!
My best friends would tell you I'm crazy and eccentric but all in all a good person, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as stand-offish.
I share my home with my husband and youngest son along with four dogs, one cat, and several fish, which I find wonderful. My daughter and two grandchildren will be moving in for about nine months while my son-in-law goes to A school and my daughter attends beauty school.
I would have to say I am pretty proud of the certificates I received in Support of our Troops during the time my daughter was stationed over seas. I am also very pro...Expand for more
ud of my PRO membership to the INRWA!!! You can only acheive this by finishing a manuscript and having your first rejection, LOL. I am also pretty siked about launching my new paranormal series!!! The first book I wrote in 25 days!!!
If I had one do over in life it would surely be not to wait so long to find my inner strength. So much time has been wasted believing things will change when I am the only one who wishes to see them change for the best.
In 10 years, I hope to be a published author. I'm going to get there by submitting submitting submitting.
I don't think I will talk about my oldest friend here, but a friend that she and I clicked so well from the first moment we met that we have been best of friends ever since. Gloria and I met when we both started working for MJV some years ago. We don't see eye to eye on everything but we do not allow that to come between our friendship. We know what each other is thinking without having to utter a word. We just automatically know when the other needs to talk and we don't snow each other when we feel the other is looking at things wrong. I would have to say we have probably the most honest relationship with each other I have ever experienced outside my husband and children. And we are not afraid to be honest with each other about everything. Very nonjudgmental relationship and it is wonderful!!! We just accept each other for who we are and love each other anyway, LOL.
Okay, so now that those questions are over I guess there is not too much to tell, LOL.
My daughter, who is my oldest child, joined the military when she was a junior in high school. After high school she served a year in Iraq, came home married a Navy man, had two children and lives in the DC area now.
My oldest son works for Dollar General Distribution Center and the bass player for the band Eight Days Out, which they are just awesome!!!
My youngest son is 16 and just an all around great kid.
My husband is a truck driver and even though he complains about his job he wouldn't trade it for the world. I love being a trucker's wife, it gives me the time I need to devote to my writing. My family is very encouraging where my career is concerned and they know all my writing moods, LOL. Which is hard for most people to understand. As a writer you go through some up and down times just like anyone else, but you also have those days of never getting out of your pjs not because you're depressed but because you just haven't had time, LOL. You wake up pounding out that next manuscript because the thing has been haunting your dreams all night.
We have twodogs, Mimi, my daughter's dog, who is 5, and Hailey 3, which is my oldest son's dog. We have a cat named Sassy who fits her name to a tee and another named Lexi.
I love my life. The time I spent in Florida I learned the landscaping business and now use that knowledge to create my own landscaping around my house. My youngest son and I created our own outdoor pond last year as well as a bird habitat.
Well I guess that is all I have to say!!!
