Life
12/11 - Last update before I cancel my membership: I just don't use the site.
I have worked steadily since the last update and even became a producer at Warner Bros. Animation. I'm very proud of my first release "Tom and Jerry & The Wizard of Oz." It was an ordeal but that's the only way to make good movies since there isn't much budget for these things. My second movie will also be good but finishing that is six months away. Dad died in 2009 and my sisters and I sold the house in St. Joseph. It was harder than I expected to lose the house. I hadn't considered the benefit of having a central repository of memories. In some ways it feels like my family died. My sisters don't talk to each other any longer and it's difficult for me to be in the middle so sometimes I want to avoid them both. I missed the 30-year reunion. I'm sometimes curious what happened to everyone from high school but not enough to connect on Facebook or something. I was hardly "connected" with people when I was IN high school so reconnecting doesn't hold much appeal beyond satisfying curiosity. As a closeted gay kid I kept most people at arms length. Maybe I never unlearned that. Still single after all these years. It would be interesting to talk with other people who were closeted in SJHS: I've met a few over the years. 1/08 - Been unemployed for over 3 months, but enjoying the time off to do projects and organize the apartment. Bought a 50" plasma and watch it a little too much. I walk enough that I'm now in shape enough to go from my apartment all the way up to Griffith Observatory. Four miles may not seem like much, but the observatory is over 500' higher than my apartment, so it's a workout. It's also very beautiful. I recommend mapmywalk dot com if you are interested in walking, running, hiking or biking.
10/07 - It's been over a year since my mother died. I still feel guilty for not doing more to help during her final years. But I suppose no matter what I did, I would never have felt it was enough. Remarkably, my father is still doing okay at 92. He's has problems a plenty, but has never spent a night in a hospital his entire life. Plus, his personality and positive outlook are intact. What a gift he is. I regret that I'm not geographically closer to him, though.
1/06 - I finally bought a new car after getting rear-ended on the freeway. I purchased an '06 Scion xB. It's very large on the inside which is important, as I am large on the outside. But the xB's small exterior makes it great for big city driving, and parking in tight spaces. If you have an xB, I'd like to hear from you regarding your experience with the vehicle. Thanks.
