Judith's Story

I’ve lived in the greater Palm Springs area for many years now.—decided to stay here permanently after I lost my husband Dave in 2005. We had RV’d pretty much full-time for some years seeing most of the Southern Canadian Provinces from Vancouver Island to Nova Scotia—which is why I love the TV Program on the History Channel called The Curse of Oak Island!. We also RV’d most of the 50 states from the West Coast to Maine, one year and then the Southern States from Arizona to Florida, and up the East Coast. We visited Washington DC shortly after 9/11 so didn’t get to see as many famous sites as we would have liked—though Dave had worked in New York City for some years before relocating to Houston. Dave’s son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons joined us in D.C. The White House was closed but the boys enjoyed The Smithsonian. I now have two small rescue dogs—had Miniature poodles for many years, but the pure-breds had many health issues—when you have a dog with heart problems and the Vet you are seeing has written the textbook on Canine Cardiology—it is time to change breeds! I decided if I didn’t want to breed/show dogs it was better to rescue a dog! Before Dave and I met I had already spent 6 weeks working in Alaska from Juneau to Nome (including multiple Islands, as well as Anchorage and Fairbank for the Alaska Medical Malpractice Carrier. I had also been to Oahu and Kauai for real estate purposes,...Expand for more
and had also vacationed in the Caribbean which I loved. One summer Dave and I flew to Paris and took a boat trip on the MIDI Canal to the Mediterranean with friends. One of the unique towns we saw was “Grasse”—which is popular as “Perfume” country. If you weren’t careful every time you made a turn you ended up back at the bottom of the steep hill rather than where you wanted to be, so had to start over. The town brochure featured tiny tourist attractions, but didn’t show the main streets correctly—a little confusing to say the least. I’ve been blessed with many wonderful friends in my life—one of my friends for almost 50 years has been very active with the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers since their youngest college-attending son home on vacation was killed instantly in a car crash on the San Francisco -Oakland Bay Bridge—being crushed in the small Mercedes by a speeding drunk driver. His older brother who was driving was uninjured! Luckily I have always been a book-worm, and currently I often read a book a day. Since my stepson got me an I=Pad I have become addicted to a game called “Words with Friends” which I play with 15 or so people on a regular basis. I also enjoy the History, Home & Garden and some News Channels on TV. Thanks to all of you who sign my guest book. I’ll be happy to hear from old classmates, but if you want to hear from me--please drop me a note. Judy Peeples McClintic
