Judith's Story
Life
I finished Grade 13 at West Hill C.I. in 1962. I attended Toronto Teachers' College and began my teaching career in Sept. 1963. In July 1964 I was married. I left teaching in Dec. 1968, and went on to raise 4 boys - Rob, Greg, Richard and Jamie. We lived first in West Hill, and then moved to Markham in 1971, where I've stayed. I lost my son, Gregory, in 1986, at the age of 18. My husband and I separated in July 1989, due to his drinking problem. I had been school-bus driving since 1978, and supply teaching. had a great rapport with the students. In 1999 I lost my son Richard at the age of 29. I could have let these tragedies in my life destroy me, or I could go on. I chose to go on with my life.
Music has always played a big part in my life. I've sung with many groups, from the church choir at St. John the Divine, to a ladies Barbershop chorus and quartette, to the York Region Teachers' Choir.
I have five grandchildren that I love dearly. I have a trailer where I spend the summers, and I have a nice man in my life, which makes things worthwhile. I volunteer as a group facilitator at Bereaved Families of Ontario, and at Northumberland Hospice in Cobourg. We are now living in Colborne, ON.
