Judy's Story
I am from Grand Marais, Minnesota. My schools include Cook County High School and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. I have lived in southern California since 1971 and had a long career as an RN, mostly on a Med/Surg floor. I am currently retired, but if the right part-time job came along, I might be interested. Over the years, I have regularly gone back to my hometown Grand Marais. I love Lake Superior and Grand Marais. It is funny because I couldn't wait to get to bigger and better things when I was young - like seeing movie stars, going to Beverly Hills, etc. As I have gotten older, I realize how special my hometown and Minnesota are. I do love the diversity and beauty of California also, but the genuine friendliness of Minnesotans is hard to beat.
I have always loved movies, especially those about real life or following the characters through several decades and comedies. Some favorites are: most movies from the 40's, The Best Years of Our Lives, Little Foxes, Four Friends, Indochine, B...Expand for more
aby Boom, 62 Charing Cross Road. I like all kinds of music, especially anything from Elton John. As I have gotten older, I like country music much more. I love Vince Gill's voice. I am always looking for new recipes to try. My specialty seems to be desserts, but that is pretty natural coming from MN and Grand Marais. In the past year, I have been trying to perfect the French Caramels that I make. I probably watch TV more than I would like to admit. I especially like the ID channel, Dancing With The Stars, OWN programs, Dr. Phil, Chopped and other Food Network programs, Shark Tank and Suze Orman's Show. I wish that Desperate Housewives was still on TV. I regularly play Lexulous on Facebook to challenge myself. The furthest that I have traveled is to Uruguay in 1972 to see Anabel my A.F.S. friend from 1967. I hope to do more traveling in the future, with Europe as a desired destination. Norway and Sweden would be at the top of the list.
I look forward to reconnecting with friends from the past.
