Judy's Story

Life I have been married to Chuck for 36 years this year. We have one daughter, 31 in August. I was previously married to Robert Sprague Franklin Class of '58. We have three children together, 2 boys and a girl. We have 13 grandchildren. I also have three step-children and 4 additional step grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. I have a granddaughter in collage on a full soccer scholorship at the U of U. My oldest grand-daughter got married April 2010. She and her husband purchased a home about 10 minutes from us. We get together with them a lot for dinner and cards. I also have a great grandson. I have been a licensed real estate agent since 1973, specializing in rental property. I managed a real estate office for awhile and then an escrow company for several years. I love the real estate business but prefer to do my own thing. We still have a property management company. I have my corporate escrow license in California. I make about 100 blankets for Shriner's Hospital a year. I like genealogy and have been able to go back to 0006 on my dads side of the family. My dad did a D&A test and we learned we are English, German, Spanish and Belarusian. We have travled a lot in the past 36 years. Some of the places we have gone are Kona Hawaii (almost every year), Tahiti, Greece, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Czech Rep.,France, Holland,Belgium, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Russia, Denmark, Italy, Spain, England,Estonia, Dubrovnik, Monte Carlo, Caribbean. We like to do cruises the best. We have been to Alaska six times. We went to Ireland last September for a land tour. We have also traveled around the United States and Canada. My husband likes Oregon a lot so we go to Wallowa Lake and/or the beach about every year. I went to the 50th Class Reunion in June 2010. Also went to the beach and to the Tillamook Cheese Factory as usual. It was so busy. It was so fun at the reunion to see everyone, we have all changed, even though we don't think we have. Some people I recognized right away and others I had to look at the name tag and even then I wasn't sure it was them. We have had lots of pets during the years the kids were growing up including a squirrel monkey named Minnie. She loved football games and men. She wasn't too crazy about us girls or little children! The best pet we ever had was a ferret. Right now we have Psyc...Expand for more
ho Cat! We raised him from the time he was three days old. He has never seen a cat so acts more like a dog. He chases slippers, races through the house, drools when he is happy, bites, gets into everything including shutting himself into rooms. My husband likes cars so we have had sports cars and antique cars. We have been in parades with the antique car driving city officials. We just got a '56 Chevy 210, red. All restored. Its's Beautiful!!! My husband threw a surprise birthday party for me on my 65th birthday. It was really a surprise! I had no idea. He gave me a beautiful new Lexus besides. I'm very spoiled! My father passed away the end of February 2009 He was 91. We enjoyed having him near us and were sorry to see him go. We moved in 2007 to a house overlooking a golf course. We have BLM land below and between us and the golf course so we have lots of animals to watch. I love the fox the best. The deer eat my plants! I used to feed a feral cat but I had to stop. The neighbors have been seeing a mountain lion in their yards. He has been right across the street from me, he left his foot prints this week. We also have wild turkeys. He has also been in my sons yard which is very close to us. Hope he doesn't get a small child, especially one of mine! My husband had prostate surgery in 2009 and almost died. He was in intensive care for 10 days and in the hospital for 13 days. The surgery went well but he was on coumadin and they put him on too high a dosage after surgery and he started hemorraging. He ended up with blood clots in his leg and five bleeding ulcers. I learned how to give shots, twice a day and lost 10 pounds taking care of him. He is back to about 95% of what he was before. I'm just so glad he is still with me. Thank goodness too for Factor 7 that finally stopped the bleeding. He still drives for Aging Services once a week. Like many people, we have lost a lot of money in real estate and the stock market but life is still good! We have our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and all are healthy. One of my grandsons is on a mission for the LDS Church in Paraguay. He will be home Jan. 3, 2013. He is doing a really good job. We are so proud of him. I have had a wonderful life. There is not much I would change, however, I hope I have lots more ahead.
